Missouri State University Libraries seeks a Student Success Librarian who is a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered faculty librarian to join our team. This 12-month, tenure-track position plays a pivotal role in advancing academic success, engagement, and retention of students through research and information literacy instruction, with an emphasis on first-year students, transfer students, international students, and first-generation college students.

The Student Success Librarian will develop, teach and help assess information literacy instruction, focusing on lower-level undergraduate courses and core curriculum integration. They will provide research assistance and individualized academic support to students across multiple disciplines and collaborate with faculty, advisors, and campus partners to design programs and initiatives that help the transition into university life. They will partner with other faculty and staff in the Research & Instructional Services department in the library, primarily focusing on integrating AI literacy and critical thinking about information technologies into instruction and outreach. There will be opportunities to support Open Educational Resource initiatives through advocacy, faculty consultations, and collaboration on affordable learning strategies. The Student Success Librarian will serve as a liaison librarian to designated academic departments, contributing to collection development, outreach, and curriculum support. Actively promote library resources and services to the campus community as well as contribute to library and university committees along with engaging in scholarly and professional activities consistent with faculty expectations such as teaching for-credit library science courses as assigned.

 

A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent is required. Must have a commitment to student success and inclusive teaching practices as well as demonstrated experience or coursework in information literacy instruction and research support. Experience working with first-year, transfer, international, or first-generation students is preferred. Familiarity with teaching AI literacy concepts or integrating AI tools responsibly in research and instruction is expected.
